Euphoria. This project is a 9 track trap/hip hop EP by London-based Nigerian trapstar, PSYCHO YP who is a member of the APEX VILLAGE music clan of Abuja, Nigeria. It was released to digital music streaming platforms on Thursday August 26th, 2021 and quickly climbed the charts especially to the top spot of popular music platform APPLE MUSIC’s “TOP 100 ALBUMS: NIGERIA” as trap/hip hop lovers across Nigeria were pumped up for the project & were delivered hits from track 1 to 9.

This project is a brick lay infrastructure solidifying Psycho YP’s versatile and distinct trap sound which has catchy & bumpy beats/drum rolls, RnB rhythms, funky feels and enthralling flows. The release of this project transcends with the new musical & creative culture/movement among the Nigerian youths shifting away from AfroBeats & traditional African style to create entirely different or alternative styles, patterns & sounds which is referred as “Alte” in Nigeria. He features fellow trapstars Rasstokyo & Trill Tega on track 4(Guapane$E), smooth trapstar J Molley on track 5(Target), sizzling hot singer, songwriter and trapstars Alpha P & PatrickxxLee on track 8(6 Feet Deep).

Euphoria is an energetic project blending trap, hiphop/rap & RnB, which is the fusion that occurs & comes with the YPSZN (pronounced as Y-P season) or YP sound.

Track 1(Big Moves) is an explosive tune for the lit party vibes and also for when you feel down about your craft while on the come up. YP talks about people second guessing him back in ‘016 because he was coming out of ABJ (Abuja) and now having people hit him up for features just to get on the hype train because of the level he has attained due to his versatile flows. YP helps us to see beyond the present and more into the possibilities that could come if you take the big bold step to put in the work with persistence & drive towards a goal.

Track 2(+234 (Daily Paper)) YP talks about people hating on him for being famous, blessed & making daily paper (money), going home to take smoke to the chest, letting go & not stressing about people’s opinions, wondering what a “Bad B” looks at him for, probably getting her number & calling up the “Bad B”, YP having thoughts of levelling up to avoid brokenness & whipping out the +234 (Nigeria).

Track 3 (Industry N****S) is an energetic, versatile, complex trap tune for the lit party vibes which keeps you bumping your head through the 1minute 35 seconds of the track. YP talks about how he was 16 on the block moving heavy, gripping every mic firmly & making a killing, he also talks about how the “industry n****s” would lie to your face & won’t help you while you’re grinding to make it in the entertainment & creative industry except it’s going to give them clout. YP says he’s too tired of “industry n****s” cause all they do is just talk & he cannot be rolling with them.

Track 4 (Guapane$E) YP features Rasstokyo & Trill Tega on this track. Starting with “B**ch Don’t Talk To Me, I Only Talk Guapane$E”, YP tells “B**ch” (people) not to bring irrelevant conversations to him except it’s Guapane$e (money language, talk or conversation). He says he gets a bag (money) every weekend, then he goes on to talk about making so much money last year he doesn’t know what to do with it & he’s tired of “N****s” (people), cause if you don’t see them on the road (balling/partying or having fun) they are probably just going to be lying to other N****s (people) that they don’t have Guala (Money).

Track 5 (Target) is a Naija drill trap song with much lit vibes to get you motivated!! YP kicks off this song with “Shooting the target” (achieving a goal). YP talks about not been ready but he got it regardless & he is “flooding the market” (doing so well) regardless. YP says a lot of people just talk the talk online but “don’t wanna run up in this sh**”, then goes on to say if he goes to jail he’ll tell the judge he just wants to live like an artiste. J Molley’s verse surprisingly kicked in with “ok damn you’re an artiste, still gonna pick you regardless” highlighting the high rate of police brutality & profiling towards creative youths. The word pick in this context is referred to as the unlawful arrest of innocent citizens in Nigeria, especially the youths. J Molley says he was in lockdown & honestly had to work an office job signing papers in the office, then goes on to say a lot of people are out of pockets (broke) and he is trying to hold down the peace.

Track 6 (Smoke 4 Free) YP unexpectedly begins this exciting track with *Chinese language* “Paa!!” “If you really want war with the boy just know i’m dishing out smoke 4 free” *brief pause with melodious trap beat sinking * “Krr!! Paa!!” YP asks how this happened again, and then he asks who let YP in a studio booth or in the zoo? Because the last time he had to do this “write music” YP had the upper hand. He goes on to say that people don’t want to hear his name again cause when he comes through all black, he comes with everything lethal (too fresh & sharp people feel oppressed), then says he is the top of the people’s people. YP says “if you really want war with the boy best know i’m dishing out smoke 4 free” & “if she really wanna do that ABJ linkup, tell her baby it’s free, it’s all on me”. YP talks about “N**gas” doing work every day & not getting payment but he makes money so he makes statements from the money that he makes, he shows off his flows & rhymes saying he heard somebody is trying to “f**k up” (spoil) his slate but he doesn’t want to talk too much but they should bring him a set on his plate.

Track 7 (In Peace) YP starts slow & switches up to rapid flows to the RnB type rhythmic & bumpy trap beats talking about going overseas cause he wants to roll in peace, but people still notice him as he comes in like “Jodecci”. He says look how he came in the game & they notice him, incoming like “Jodecci” & put it (music) out for the world to see, he goes on flows saying his girl has a heart so cold she makes sh**(things) burn like 30 degrees and he doesn’t need a 3rd degree and he’s been stacking up while broke n****s talking online and it ain’t adding up, but he tells the Young Gs(Younger Generation or Guys) to get the heat in the summer. YP tells his girl not let go, that she’s the one that catches his soul as his trying to find out if she’s loyal, till a n***a (he) finds her intention.

Track 8 (6 Feet Deep) is a splendid amazing track with very nice beats, enthralling flows & top notch narrative featuring the impeccable Alpha P & Super sizzling PatrickxxLee. This track is so exciting and euphoric that I was left smiling, bumping my head & dancing all through the song, so I had to put this track on repeat because I could not get enough of it. I am not writing much about this amazing track, because you are definitely going to vibe to this, so head straight & Listen to this spectacular track directly on spotify below.

Track 9 (Euphoria) talks about YP trying to set up a studio in 2016 but unfortunately didn’t have enough funds but now he has gotten to a point in his career where he’s looking at O2 Arena. YP goes on to say he paid his dues & paid admission, now his “Bad B” (girl) is doing up chips in the kitchen he doesn’t even have roll, so he just chips in cause she’s trying to build it up straight, but N****s (people) are still trynna put chipping and they are trying to take his sh** (thing) away, then says he cannot be a victim, even though his “shawty” (girl) is opening up well he could put his wrist in. He says he doesn’t know where she comes from but she can’t stay, and then he says she shouldn’t have doubted him and should’ve been on the ride with him, that she’d have been his lighter because he’ll be her rider & her sniper. Furthermore, YP says he doesn’t feel himself & he likes it, he just feels away, so he is asking for help because he needs all the pain to go away, that’s why he picks up the lighter & smoke to avoid thoughts of that life anymore.

The dreamy, trippy and psychedelic themed visual was released & premiered a day after the EP’s release on August 27th, 2021 to popular African Magazine #NativeMag & it is as well available on popular video streaming platform, YouTube to watch or download. Watch below:
