Tiwa Savage's Long Anticipated EP “Water & Garri” is Finally Here! Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has finally dropped her much-awaited extended playlist to the delight of fans.

Water & Garri. This project is a 5 track EP by the Nigerian Singer, Songwriter & arguably the Queen Bey or Rihanna of the Nigerian Music Industry, TIWA SAVAGE. I listened to her project on impact as it was released on popular music streaming platform Spotify and was left in awe from track 1 to 5.
The project is a stand out from previous Tiwa projects as it takes an entirely different or alternative sound which in modern times is referred as “Alte” in Nigeria. She features Legendary Rapper Nas & Sensational Singer Rich King on track 1 (Work Fada), Sensational Afrofusion Singer Amaarae on track 3 (Tales by Moonlight), Legendary RnB Singer Brandy on track 4 (Somebody’s Son) & Amazingly Talented RnB Singer Tay Iwar on track 5 (Special Kinda).
The project is a solid golden project blending hiphop/rap, rnb/soul & afrobeats, although it has a diverse sound from the usual Tiwa Savage vibe as the “African Bad Gyal” which would leave some listeners unappeased. Regardless, it stands out as the vocals of Tiwa stuns as always, with a narrative which is relatable to many listeners.
Track 1(Work Fada) is a cool & calm tune for the night time when a good night sleep is needed, as well as for when feeling down after work & having the feeling of not living the life you wanted. It talks about seeing a bigger picture & getting up to go after it.
Track 2 (Ade Ori) talks about not needing drugs to overcome the pains that come with life, but rather having an evolution of mind & growth. It has a nostalgic feel which gives sweet sensations & even goosebumps from Tiwa’s vocals, the saxophone & piano roll.
Track 3 (Tales by Moonlight) talks about a story of being shy to approach even after seeing strong signs of falling in love with a 6’5 guy while out & about in the city by moonlight & being ready to become a “We” in due time. This song is a feel good song for the late night party groove when everyone is turnt up having a good time & for when you feel the need to open up to mingle with someone who is down to appreciate the pleasures of life and the essence of your existence.
Track 4 (Somebody’s Son) Starting with “sorry, i’m not sorry”, Tiwa talks about her heart still paining her from heartbreak but contemplating of trying to love again. She talks about a special guy “somebody’s son” loving her one day after the wait. Brandy enters with not been worried because someone will come who will appreciate her trueness & worth.
Track 5 (Special Kinda) surprisingly kicked in with Tay Iwar’s vocals almost entirely serenading this track with him talking about a special feeling & he says his lover should “call me(him) when we’re(they’re) on the same page”. He needed her for love & asked that she lets him in cause of all the things he’d do because of the special kinda feeling he has for her. Weirdly, Tiwa’s vocals were not heard through the main parts of the song but probably was added as an echoed inaudible voice (except with headphones) towards the end.
Tracklist

Overall, the feel of this EP is weird & new to us as listeners who have listened to other Tiwa projects before this, but it’s doesn’t cut the fact that it is an outstandingly well-crafted unique genius piece of work by the Nigerian Queen Tiwa. All Hail TIWA SAVAGE for doing her thing, despite what critic reviews would say as she takes a bold step to make this project stand out from the usual or regular Tiwa music showing off her ever expanding versatility as a creative notwithstanding age factor while also being an amazing mother to her kids. – Pi THE MOON SAGE, Natchsville.
